At the largest yearly meeting of world leaders, we’re listening in to hear what everyone has to say about gender equality and women’s empowerment, which stands at the heart of many of the pressing issues of our time, such as climate action, universal health coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals.

A better world for women and girls is a better world for all, and leaders from across the world are recognizing that. From highlighting the need for more women in leadership, to promoting women’s economic empowerment, many Heads of State and Government called for urgent action for gender equality.

As the High-Level General Debate of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly comes to a close, take a look at what world leaders had to say about gender equality at this year’s UN General Assembly.
